Privacy and accessibility
What to tell your school's IT team before students use CodeFlip.
No accounts or tracking
Students and teachers don't sign up or sign in. CodeFlip never asks for a name or an email, and it has no ads or tracking scripts. It counts page views and runs in total, never per person, to know what's used.
Where programs run
Programs run on the student's own computer, in the browser, not on CodeFlip's servers. Java, C and C++ programs are sent to CodeFlip once to be prepared for the browser, then run on the student's computer like the rest.
What CodeFlip stores
- Short links save the program, with its input and files, so the link can open it. Nothing in them says who made them. A full link (with Short link unchecked) stores nothing on CodeFlip.
- Canvas is set up as anonymous, so Canvas doesn't send CodeFlip students' names, emails or rosters. See Add it to Canvas.
Browsers and networks
CodeFlip works in up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, with nothing to install. If your school filters websites, allow codeflip.dev.
Accessibility
- Screen readers read each step's explanation aloud as students move.
- Everything works from the keyboard. See the keyboard shortcuts.
- Text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed to be easy to read for people with low vision.
